Amazon is offering a free 1 year subscription to Amazon Prime (Free 2 day shipping, $3.99 overnight shipping): http://amzn.to/bSH8jP

This is being marketed towards college students but all you need is a valid .edu email address, so teachers and alumni can benefit from this too!

Now is a time that I wish I was still in college. Oh well, what can you do?

Looking for a room [22 Apr 2008|09:06pm]

I am a 22 year old female college grad (well, as of May 10!) and I'm coming to Duke for a month long program from June 1-July 2 and need a room to stay in. I'm a nonsmoker (but don't have a problem with smokers), tidy and can live with pets just fine (I have none of my own). I'm willing to pay $300-500 for the month plus whatever utilities are thrown in there.

Please contact me at voronet @ gmail . com (spaces removed) if interested.

Thanks! =)

Sending a fax [23 Oct 2007|10:34pm]

I need to fax an employment application to a company in Washington DC. I've never had to fax anything from campus before so I'm kind of clueless as to what to do. Any suggestions on where to find a fax machine I could use? Doesn't have to be free.

Richard Bacchus and the Luckiest Girls - Montreal, CA
Richard Bacchus and the Luckiest Girls mix the sparkle and boogie of T. Rex with the sleazy street wise sneer of the New York Dolls and top it off with a healthy dose of angst-ridden punk pop in the vein of the Buzzcocks and the Pixies.

LAM! LAM! - Durham, NC
Betsy Shane (ex-Relatively Calm, Pink Paisley Sofa, Sparklepants) has stepped up to create a simultaneously adorable and perverse blend of rock and dance music. Heavily influenced by the likes of Chicks on Speed, Peaches and Miss TK and the Revenge, LAM! LAM! chews up your subconscious desires and spits them back at you with a sassy uhn-tiss uhn-tiss uhn-tiss.

Saints Will Do - Durham, NC
Start with 2 parts ex-Autocade rhythm section, well-seasoned and slightly aged. Add singer/songwriter extraordinaire. Mix in a lead guitarist from Chicago. Flanked by one wife, a girlfriend or two, two dawgs, three cats, a crappy 4-track cassette machine, a cramped practice room, Durham Bulls baseball games and Wednesday pint nights at Tyler's Tap Room. The result: a collective entity that met over the wonderous internet to play rock music and have a lot of fun doing it. The only regret: not getting this thing together sooner.

classes, classes, classes [11 Jan 2007|11:44pm]

so a friend of mine is demanding that i post the following for her. please answer her questions if you can; she seems pretty freaked out about this and it's starting to get on my nerves. :) (jk!!!)

"Hey Lj peeps,

I was wondering if there was anyone who could help me decide which of these classes or professors to take:

Bio/ BAA 146 SOCIOBIOLOGY with Dr. Leslie DIGBY
Bio 295S seminars
Professor Anne Allison (Cul Anth)

Basically, I am wondering how hard it is to get an A or A- in each of these classes, are any of the tests not as straightforward as one might think (Drea and Digby have both said that they "tell you what to study" but a website I read said that that's not always the case…), are any of these classes a lot of work that's unnecessary? I am mainly deciding between Drea and Digby (the first two classes).

I've heard that Drea's tests usually have more than one answer (unclear) but I've also heard that Digby's short answer questions on the tests are sometimes rather subjectively graded. Is this true?

For Allison, I was wondering how hard of a grader on papers she is, and what kind of grades does she usually give? Is she a prof who gives a lot of constructive criticism, suggestions, direction?

Thanks so much to anyone who replies; have a great loooong weekend!"

so who else watched the lacrosse piece on 60 minutes? it was surprisingly anti-mike nifong. my favorite part was the interview with brodhead, because damn, every time that man opens his mouth, i can't help but laugh.

Textbooks [28 Jul 2006|07:18pm]

[ mood | confused ]

For Math 32, the required textbook is Calculus, 6th edition, by Penney and Edwards. However, I've found about six different variations--Early Transcendentals, Single Variable, Matrix, etc. etc.--and I have no idea which one I should be looking at. Or is there one that's just titled Calculus? Does anyone know?
